Sorry for the imminent rant but here goes.
Far be it for me to stand in the way of anybody's creativity or artistic distraction but one guy is really starting to piss me off. I will not name this person but they call themselves a photographer and for the last few years they have done nothing but take pictures of kids stood by graffiti.
Now if anyone is to be shot for pretentious egotistical hierarchic spiel of their own work then i would surely feature in that firing line. However mine is not random words that i read in a gallery one day which i thought sounded clever.
Now where am i going with this you may ask, On this GWC's (guy with Camera) ((Basically bought a camera one day and called themselves a photographer)) website he has some "artistic sounding gaffe". He uses his creative process through photography as a means of expression. I had to contact this person and ask exactly what an aging man is trying to express by taking the same style photos of different kids against the same style backgrounds. The response i got was that he cant travel therefore the surroundings are the same. So question not answered.
I asked again to get that he cannot because of a disabled wife and a dead daughter. Still question not answered. So i ask again to be then told that his work has been used by foundation students and that he has won awards.
This is still not an explanation of this guys spiel, he expresses himself by taking pictures of kids against walls because he cant travel, has a disabled wife and a dead daughter.
Perhaps the old statement that if you put an infinite amount of monkeys in a room with an equal amount of typewriters you will get the complete works of shakespeare also works with Art. Eventually if i keep taking random photos and stick them up on a webshite then i can be a pretentious twat as well?
